August 2019: New SAVE Associate Member: Neo Human Foundation, Jharkhand.
The SAVE Board has formally approved the Indian NGO, Neo Human Foundation (NHF) for the two year initial term as SAVE Associate. NHF and the activities of the President, Dr Satya Prakash have been strongly aligned with SAVE since its creation. Dr Satya Prakash has attended and provided reports and materials at both Vulture Safe Zone workshops, and the provisional Vulture Safe Zone centred on Hazaribagh is a key element of the work currently being carried out. NHF has also attended several annual SAVE meetings, and provided updates for inclusion in the past two SAVE annual reports. It is a member and representative of the Jharkhand State Wildlife Board, and maintains strong land positive links with the Jharkhand Forest Department.
Key NHF activities currently include vulture surveys, NSAID monitoring with a strong awareness programme in provisional vulture safe zone Hazaribag. The strong links with Jharkhand Forest Department have meant that there has also been financial support for these in-situ measures within the Hazaribag Provisional Vulture Safe Zone (HPVSZ).
In addition, NHF has ensured that a Vulture Conservation Awareness programme has been incorporated to several state level Wildlife Management Plans being prepared by various national and state development agencies including those for railways (IRCON), roads (NHAI) and transmission lines (DVC). It maintains strong links with the Forest Department, where the current PCCF Wildlife and Chief Wildlife Warden Shri P.K.Verma is particularly positive and supportive of in-situ and ex-situ approaches to vulture conservation.
We are pleased to welcome the Neo Human Foundation as our 24th SAVE Partner. Website: https://www.neohumanfoundation.com/
